At Harbor, we're not just building the most reliable baby monitor—we're building it as parents. For our team, fatherhood isn’t just a role; it’s a life-defining experience that shapes how we design, innovate, and support other families. In honor of all the incredible dads out there, we asked a few Harbor teammates (and proud dads) to share what fatherhood means to them, the advice they’d offer to new fathers, and how Harbor has helped them feel more present and confident in their parenting journey.

What’s the best part of being a dad?
It’s magical. Sure, the “firsts” are unforgettable—first steps, first words, first bike ride—but what really stays with you are the small, quiet moments: a sleepy head on your shoulder, a spontaneous laugh, the joy of simply being together. The love you feel for your child is something that can’t be explained until you experience it yourself.
What advice would you give to a soon-to-be dad?
You don’t have to be perfect—just present. The baby phase goes by in a blur, and it’s easy to feel pressure to get everything right. But your presence, your attention, your voice—those are what matter most. Be willing to learn as you go.
There’s one piece of advice I think more parents need to hear: as Dr. Jordan Peterson says, “Don’t let your kids do things that make you dislike them.” Your job isn’t just to love them—it’s to guide them. Discipline, consistency, and high standards matter. Raising kind, respectful, self-aware children is the most important work we’ll ever do.
How has Harbor helped you show up as the dad you want to be?
Harbor was born from my own frustrations as a dad—trying to juggle work, family, and a baby monitor that just didn’t work when we needed it most. I wanted to create something that gave parents real peace of mind.
Even though my own kids were too old for Harbor when we launched, I see how it’s changing the game for thousands of families. Parents can be present without being chained to a screen. They can leave the house and know everything is okay. As a founder, it’s deeply rewarding to build something that helps other parents rest, recharge, and feel like they’ve got this.

What’s the best part of being a dad?
Being there to watch your kids grow, learn, and get fascinated by the world. There’s nothing like it.
What advice would you give to a soon-to-be dad?
Don’t overthink it. Just be present and enjoy every moment. It’s the best part of life.
How has Harbor helped you show up as the dad you want to be?
Now that my boys are 3 and 5, Harbor lets me do things like work out downstairs while they play. I can watch multiple Cameras at once, so I know where they are and what they’re doing—without hovering. It helps me get stuff done while staying connected and confident that they’re safe.

How has Harbor helped you show up as the dad you want to be?
At Harbor, there’s a deep level of trust. I can take time for a school pickup or a doctor’s appointment without guilt, and make up for it later. That flexibility has been huge for my family. It’s more than a job—it’s a culture that supports the kind of dad I want to be.
Why We Built Harbor (And Why Dads Love It)
For many dads, balancing work, parenting, and personal time can feel like a constant juggling act. Harbor helps simplify that by offering a baby monitor that just works. No WiFi? No problem. Traveling? Covered. Need to see four rooms at once? Easy.
Harbor was designed by parents, for parents—especially the kind who want to show up fully for their families, without sacrificing their sanity in the process.
